Houston, Texas

On May 27, 1999, G.R. Birdwell Construction, Inc. was awarded a contract to construct the main compressor building foundation for a fortune 500 Company. The project was awarded to Birdwell Construction because of the short duration and the complexity of the job.

The foundation would support 7 new gas compressors and would be the center of a multi- million dollar project. The scope included casting 2400 yards of concrete after the removal of 5000 yards of soil. The schedule dictated that work would progress 6 days a week for the entire 2.5 months of the project. Unfortunately, Houston experienced unusually heavy rains during 22 of the first 30 days of the contract. Once, the rains stopped 2100 yards of concrete was left to pour with only 6 weeks left on the contract. The work was completed on time despite the 4-week delay.
